DEADLINE: October 31st!

Winter is fast approaching in Canada! The leaves are changing; there is a chill in the air; and it recently snowed in Alberta. Sadly, this signals the end of this year’s rescue opportunity for Premarin mares and foals. The ranchers will be forced to bring the horses out of pasture.

Since it is extremely costly for the ranchers to feed them hay and grains, nearly 200 hundred horses will end up at auction, many of whom will be slaughtered. Please adopt and save a Premarin horse from slaughter.

Please go to PMU Rescue (http://www.pmurescue.org/) or The Animali Farm (http://www.theanimalifarm.com/) for a list of Premarin horses currently available for adoption or click here to read more (https://secure2.convio.net/aspca/site/Advocacy?pagename=homepage&id=1781&JServSessionIdr012=d59jwf9zt1.app24b).

chiquita522: Dressage Saddle Price?

I decided on Friday that I want to sell my Stubben dressage saddle.

It's a 32 cm tree, fairly older, but in a generally very good condition. The leather is faded (no longer a beautiful black), but with some dye work, it'd be like new.
I will mostly likely be selling the saddle with the leathers, irons, and girth (it's somewhere in the 30 inch range).

What would be a fair price for this? My mom had purchased it maybe 10 years ago, gifted it to me about 7, and I haven't used it heavily for almost 3 years. It's been kept in a saddle bag, cleaned and oiled about four times a summer, and never exposed to heavy moisture.

New York!! I can live for free, and she'd pay me 10% of the proffits from the guests! I'd get my own bed room for me and my ferrts, my horse would have free board, and all the pasture space he wanted! omg that would be a dream!!

Now Dartanian is going lame in his front legs.. he has arthiritis in his back right, and now could be Navicular in one of his front legs.. hes been getting worse everyday.. I don't know what to do.. We're going to get x-rays done on wends. for his front.. and if it is positive for Navicular then im sure he'll be put on Isoxsuprine? I can't stand to see my baby hurting anymore.. it kills me everytime I see him walk down to the pasture.. I give him bute for his pain... but it still makes me want to cry. I'm kinda thinking/hopeing that if the Isoxsuprine does work for his front, then that will take some of the pressure off his back ankle and help that?? maybe? well we'll find out on wends. for now, just please keep him in your prayers. I'll do anyting to get my horse back to normal!

Hey everyone,
i completely forgot i was a member of this community, i apologize for never ever posting.
I have a question or five.
I'm in Pony Club and I'm going for my C-2 at the end of the month and part of what we have to do is lounge.
Now I have a 10yo AQHA gelding-sweet as can be but he cant lounge at all.
I've been trying all this week and he's starting to get it a little. I had one of my trainers out this past Wed. for my usual Dressage lesson but we decided to try and lounge him instead. She was under the impression that he DID know how to lounge it was just easier for him to just blow us off and go do his own thing.
I've had him for maybe 3 years now and he was a school horse at a college prior. So he hasnt been lounge in a good 5 years.
My horse was broke and originally trained western. I was hoping you guys could help me out a little bit. Like what are some commands that differ from western and english that would help me when I lounge. like does cluck me trot and a kiss mean canter or something odd like that. How can i get my horse to NOT COME IN when i say whoa. ya know stuff like that.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
and Billy i guess ;-)

chiquita522: Middle Names?

Do any of you have middle names for your horses?
Maybe it's because my girls have "human-esq" names, but both of them have full names.

Ginger Elizabeth and Kelly Anne.
I know that Elizabeth doesn't really "flow" with Ginger, but it's the best I could come up with. That, and Ginger is the queen bee of our herd, so her full name is really "Her Royal Highness, Queen Ginger Elizabeth." All our other horses get the title of "Princess."

Anyway, am I alone in giving my horses middle names?

sirensong489: seriously in need of guidance

Okay, so I rode western today for the first time in a long time. I'm generally an English Pleasure-Dressage-Hunter rider (varying with my mood or what show is coming up). I rode western for a few years (I got an Argentine TB and turned her from polo pony to western pleasure pony) and I'm pretty good at it. Now I"m confused about whether I want to do dressage (which is what I was aiming at, my new horse and I just need more show experience) or go back to western. I could probably train him better if we did western, and he is cute dressed up western, but I'm not totally sold.

Then again, I think quarter horses shold be western horses, he is a Cash horse, and his sire won 3 congress' and 1 world show and his grandsire won 3 congress' and 3 world shows, both in halter. What's with the 3, I don't know, but what's your opinion?

Even a suggestion to let him (Sox, Justa Sock of Cash by Obvious Cash out of Justa Little Flower) choose would be great. Should I ask my old trainer? Should I just give it more time? Please help!
